The transformation of the transport sector in Poland is gaining momentum. In June 2024, the first 24/7 hydrogen refueling station in Poland was opened in Poznań, which is already serving 25 city buses. This event represents a significant step towards energy transformation aimed at reducing emissions and increasing energy efficiency in transport.
ORLEN plans to launch over 100 hydrogen stations in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia by 2030, highlighting its ambitious approach to energy transformation. Hydrogen plays a key role in the future fuel mix, and the construction of 56 stations in Poland aligns with the corporation's long-term strategy, supported by EU and national funds.
The company intends to power hydrogen hubs with renewable energy sources and facilities that process municipal waste. By 2030, the capacity of electrolyzers is expected to reach approximately 1 GW, enabling the production of over 130,000 tons of hydrogen annually.
The company also plans to invest in electromobility infrastructure, already having more than 1,000 electric vehicle charging points in Poland. The hydrogen station in Poznań is just the beginning of a broader strategy for transforming public transport.
The development of a network of hydrogen stations will contribute to improved air quality and the implementation of modern transportation systems based on zero-emission fuels. Such a transformation will benefit both the environment and residents, creating healthier and more sustainable living conditions in cities. Supporting initiatives related to hydrogen and electromobility is crucial for the future of transport and environmental protection.
